A History of Innovation
Predictive Biosciences is an innovative developer of molecular diagnostic tests for cancer diagnosis and monitoring. We are focused on understanding and meeting the needs of physicians by providing valuable diagnostic services and laboratory solutions.
The company was founded in 2006 based on research conducted at Children’s Hospital in Boston that showed the protein biomarker, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP), could be detected in urine and was a viable indicator for cancer testing. Today, our exclusive biomarker portfolio includes protein and DNA markers that when found in urine and tissue are highly correlated with the presence and progression of certain cancers.
Predictive Biosciences took a new approach to molecular testing by analyzing multiple biomarkers (DNA and protein) together in a single test to determine disease state. Our CertNDx™ tests enable physicians to accurately detect cancer in some patients and its molecular grade in others. Our team is committed to providing physicians with clinically relevant information to aid in how they manage their patients.
The first CertNDx tests target bladder cancer, the fifth most common cancer in the United States. With a recurrence rate of 70%, patients often face the anxiety and discomfort of repeated, invasive testing to either rule out its presence or monitor its progress. Our mission is to provide a test that decreases the uncertainty physicians and patients face.
In January 2010, Predictive Biosciences acquired Cleveland-based OncoDiagnostic Laboratory (ODL), a state of the art anatomic pathology lab under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA). Through this acquisition, Predictive Biosciences is able to provide a comprehensive line of molecular diagnostic and molecular pathology services.
Headquartered in Lexington, MA, Predictive Biosciences is privately funded by Flybridge Capital Partners, Highland Capital Partners, Kaiser Permanente Ventures, New Enterprise Associates and ProQuest Investments. We employ a staff of approximately one hundred employees nationwide.
